Your internet site will be the hub of your web business; it’s the practical representation of your business whether your business exists physically or not. If you’re conducting business on the Internet, people can’t see you physically as they can when they are dealing with them offline business. Therefore, they do judge “your book by its cover”. This can be where a great design comes in to the equation. Imagine if you were running an offline business. Would you tolerate your sales people to be dressed in worn or informal apparel when they’re dealing with your clients? By making your staff dress professionally, you’re letting your customers know that you are concerned about quality. This works simply because first impressions matter. Likewise, it’s the same with your internet site. If your internet site is shabby and looks like a ten minute “quickie”, you’re literally exclaiming to your visitors that you’re not professional and you don’t cherish quality. Conversely, if you have got a completely professional looking site layout, you’re giving your visitors the idea that you’ve given precise care to every point and you are concerned about professionalism, that you are organized, focused and you really mean business. You should also be sure to have everything associated with your business well designed. From business cards to letterheads to promotional folders, every little thing counts. This is because as your business is growing, these things become the representation of your business.
